Allows private counsel retained by a sexual assault victim to be present during victim depositions, in addition to victim advocates and not-for-profit victim services organization representatives.

Requires sexual assault victims to be informed of their right to have the courtroom cleared of certain persons during testimony about the offense.

Prohibits toxicology screening results from sexual assault forensic examinations or reports of sexual violence from being used to prosecute victims for misdemeanor drug violations under chapter 893.

Requires the Department of Legal Affairs, state attorneys, law enforcement agencies, and courts to develop guidelines implementing these victim protections.

Effective date: July 1, 2023.
