HB 1527 Summary

• Requires governmental entities to provide requested records without redactions to Florida Legislature members, Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer, and Commissioner of Agriculture within 7 days of receiving a properly formatted request.

• Legislature members, CFO, and Commissioner of Agriculture prohibited from receiving active criminal intelligence or active criminal investigative information from law enforcement agencies.

• Mandates all requesters maintain exempt and confidential information as exempt or confidential, with violations subject to penalties under s. 119.10 and chamber rules for improper disclosure.

• Requires use of standardized records request forms that include sworn statements; Legislature members may share records only with other members who submit their own request forms; Attorney General, CFO, and Commissioner cannot share records without written governmental entity authorization.

• Governmental entities must waive all fees for records requested under these procedures; act becomes effective July 1, 2023.
