Dog breeders in Florida must pay registration and renewal fees to be determined by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, with neither fee exceeding $500.

The department must notify dog breeders of their annual renewal fee in writing 60 days before the renewal date.

Late renewal penalties may not exceed $500, and the department may extend renewal dates up to 90 days without penalty for good cause such as natural disasters or hardship cases.

Dog breeders and breeding facilities must conspicuously post their certificates of registration and inspection in a place in clear and unobstructed public view.

The act takes effect contingent upon HB 1581 or similar legislation being adopted and becoming law in the same legislative session.
