Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles shall develop a "Cure Diabetes" specialty license plate displaying "Florida" at the top and "Cure Diabetes" at the bottom.

Department retains all annual use fees from plate sales until startup and development costs are recovered.

After startup costs are recovered, annual use fees shall be distributed to fund Type 1 diabetes research through organizations selected by the plate purchaser: the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, or University of Florida Diabetes Institute.

If a plate purchaser does not select a specific organization, fees are distributed equally among all three organizations.

Act takes effect October 1, 2023.
