Florida House of Representatives recognizes the achievements and contributions of Samuel P. Bell III to the State of Florida

Samuel P. Bell III graduated from Dartmouth College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and Duke University with a Legum Baccalaureus degree, serving as Student Government President at Dartmouth

Represented Florida House District 30 and served as Florida House Democratic Leader from 1978 to 1980, chairing the Appropriations, Commerce, Congressional Redistricting, and Rules and Calendar Committees

Worked as a longtime lobbyist focused on children's health and was considered the "father" of the University of South Florida College of Public Health, serving as the first and only chair of the dean's advisory board

According to U.S. News and World Report's 2022 rankings, the USF College of Public Health achieved the number 1 ranking in the state and number 16 nationwide under his leadership; Bell passed away on March 14, 2023, at age 83
