Requires public school instructional staff to teach students in grades 6 through 12 about the social, emotional, and physical effects of social media, including addiction, misinformation, behavioral manipulation, cyberbullying, predatory behavior, human trafficking, and how to report suspicious online behavior

Prohibits students from using wireless communications devices during instructional time, except when directed by their teacher for educational purposes, and authorizes teachers to withhold a student's device during instructional time

Requires each school district to block student access to social media platforms on district-provided Internet, with an exception for educational use directed by a teacher

Directs the Florida Department of Education to make social media safety instructional materials available online, with each district school board required to notify parents of the materials' availability; the department may procure materials from a vendor or provider

Effective date is July 1, 2023, and the State Board of Education is authorized to adopt rules to administer the social media access prohibition
