Adds assistant state attorneys to the definition of "law enforcement officer" under Florida Statute 784.07 for purposes of enhanced criminal penalties for assault and battery offenses.

Assault upon an assistant state attorney is reclassified from a misdemeanor of the second degree to a misdemeanor of the first degree.

Battery upon an assistant state attorney is reclassified from a misdemeanor of the first degree to a felony of the third degree.

Aggravated assault upon an assistant state attorney is reclassified from a felony of the third degree to a felony of the second degree, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 3 years imprisonment.

Aggravated battery upon an assistant state attorney is reclassified from a felony of the second degree to a felony of the first degree, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years imprisonment.
