Full-time Florida Virtual School students from military families stationed outside Florida who cannot participate in Florida-based proctored exams must be offered flexibility in how they take statewide standardized assessments, including comprehensive, end-of-course, and alternate assessments

Assessments under the flexibility provision must be administered securely at the parent's or guardian's current military duty station by a licensed, certified instructor or an education services officer test administrator meeting specified criteria

Parents or guardians must submit a written request to Florida Virtual School at least 90 days before the assessment date, including official documentation of the family's current out-of-state military duty station assignment

Florida Virtual School must forward the request with a recommendation to the Department of Education, which has 14 days after receipt to verify documentation and issue a determination granting or denying the flexibility

The Legislature may request a report from Florida Virtual School on the number of flexibility requests made, the number granted, and student performance data on statewide assessments; the State Board of Education is required to adopt implementing rules; effective date is July 1, 2023
