Prohibits district school boards from requiring students age 16 or older to take a course before taking the high school equivalency examination unless the student fails to achieve a passing score on the GED practice test.

Establishes that the GED practice test passing score threshold shall be defined by State Board of Education rule.

Allows candidates at least 18 years old to take the high school equivalency examination, with exceptions for extraordinary circumstances as defined by district school board rules for candidates age 16 and older.

Effective July 1, 2023.
