Convictions or other criminal adjudications more than 3 years before application cannot be grounds for denying barber or cosmetologist licenses, unless the applicant was convicted of a crime during the 3-year period immediately preceding the application.

Convictions or adjudications more than 5 years before application cannot be grounds for denying licenses for construction professions or other professions offered as vocational training in correctional institutions.

Boards retain authority to consider criminal history at any time if it involves crimes listed in s. 775.21(4)(a)1. or s. 776.08 and relates to professional practice.

Applicable boards must approve educational program credits offered to inmates in correctional institutions or facilities as vocational training or industry certification for satisfying barber and cosmetologist licensure requirements.
