Petitions for human trafficking victim expunction and all related pleadings and documents are made confidential and exempt from public records requirements under Florida law.

No filing fees, service charges, copy fees, or other charges may be assessed for petitions filed under this expunction provision.

The confidentiality exemption is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act and automatically repeals on October 2, 2028, unless the Legislature reenacts it.

Legislature findings establish that confidentiality is necessary to prevent discrimination against trafficking victims seeking expungement and to allow them to rebuild their lives and reenter society.

Effective date is October 1, 2023.
