SB 1628 Summary

• Amends Florida Statutes s. 215.971 to prohibit agency agreements from requiring counties or municipal entities in rural areas of opportunity to expend funds before receiving reimbursement for state or federal financial assistance.

• Authorizes agencies to advance funding based on estimated cost analysis, pay service providers and vendors directly, or use other methods to meet assistance requirements for qualifying rural entities.

• Applies only to counties and municipal entities within rural areas of opportunity as defined in s. 288.0656(2).

• Does not alter or limit any other provisions of s. 215.971.

• Effective July 1, 2023.
