Expands public records exemptions for the School Safety Awareness Program's mobile suspicious activity reporting tool to include information held by the Department of Education, in addition to law enforcement agencies and school officials.

Makes the identity of reporting parties confidential and exempt from public records disclosure, and exempts any other information received through the reporting tool from public disclosure.

Applies exemptions retroactively to records held before, on, or after the effective date of the act.

Extends the sunset review date from October 2, 2023 to October 2, 2028, when the exemption will be repealed unless the Legislature reenacts it.

Establishes that protecting reporter identities and sensitive information encourages reporting of unsafe, dangerous, or criminal activities and prevents mass violence incidents.
