Save Our Teachers Act (FL SB 136)

• Increases the minimum base salary for full-time classroom teachers and certified prekindergarten teachers funded through the Florida Education Finance Program from $47,500 to $65,000
• Officially cited as the "Save Our Teachers Act"
• School districts and charter schools must maintain the minimum base salary achieved in the prior fiscal year and may not reduce salary increases in any subsequent fiscal year
• Each school district must submit approved salary distribution plans to the Department of Education by October 1 of each fiscal year, and beginning August 1, 2024, must provide detailed annual reports on prior year expenditures related to the salary increase
• Effective date of July 1, 2024; the Legislature is required to annually apportion funds through the Florida Education Finance Program to assist districts and charter schools in meeting the new salary minimum
