Adds "code enforcement officer" to the list of protected personnel under Florida's assault and battery reclassification statute (s. 784.07, F.S.), covering officers as defined in s. 162.21 and code inspectors as defined in s. 162.04

Requires reclassification of assault against a code enforcement officer engaged in lawful duties from a second-degree misdemeanor to a first-degree misdemeanor

Requires reclassification of battery against a code enforcement officer from a first-degree misdemeanor to a third-degree felony

Applies the same enhanced penalty framework already in place for law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical care providers, and other specified public safety personnel

Effective date of July 1, 2024
