SB 946 – Medicaid Eligibility for Medical Assistance and Related Services

• Amends Florida Statute 409.904 to extend Medicaid eligibility to adults described under 42 U.S.C. § 1396a(a)(10)(A)(i)(VIII), which is the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion population—generally adults under age 65 with household income up to 138% of the federal poverty level
• Adds this expanded adult population as a new category (subsection 13) under Florida's optional Medicaid payments for eligible persons
• Eligibility remains subject to income, asset, and categorical eligibility tests established under federal and state law
• Payment on behalf of newly eligible individuals is subject to availability of funds and any limitations set by the General Appropriations Act or Chapter 216
