Senate Resolution 1832 - Honoring Senator Betty S. Holzendorf

• Honors the memory of Senator Betty S. Holzendorf, a former public school teacher and administrator from Jacksonville who died February 29, 2024, at age 84.

• Served in the Florida House of Representatives for House District 16 from 1988 to 1992, and in the Florida Senate representing Senate District 2 from 1992 to 2002, serving as Democratic Leader Pro Tempore from 1996 to 2000.

• Chaired the Appropriations Subcommittee on Education and the Florida Conference of Black State Legislators (1994-1995), and worked on legislation regarding insurance, health care access, school readiness programs, and the Hurricane Catastrophe Fund.

• Sponsored legislation establishing law schools at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and Florida International University, and created the Florida Black Business Investment Board.

• Directs the Florida Senate to present a copy of the resolution with the Senate Seal to her surviving husband King Holzendorf and their four children.
