Amends s. 489.105, F.S. to revise the definition of "underground utility and excavation contractor," changing the restriction on fire protection system piping from a prohibition on installing such piping to allowing installation up to a point within 5 feet of the building where the system will be installed.

Expands the definition of "Contractor V" in s. 633.102, F.S. so that a Contractor V who also holds an underground utility and excavation contractor license may install underground fire protection piping up to 5 feet from the building or up to the fire riser inside the building, ending no more than 1 foot above the finished floor.

Adds a new definition of "underground utility and excavation contractor" to s. 633.102, F.S. (the fire safety chapter), cross-referencing the existing license under s. 489.105(3)(n).

Reenacts related provisions in ss. 489.117, 633.224, and 633.318, F.S., concerning contractor registration, specialty contractors, automatic fire sprinkler systems, and fire protection system contractor certification to incorporate the definitional amendments.

Effective date is July 1, 2025.
