Florida Senate Resolution 1872, introduced by Senator Brodeur, recognizes the contributions of Harris Rosen to the Central Florida community following his passing on November 25, 2024, at age 85

Harris Rosen founded Rosen Hotels & Resorts in 1974, starting with a single 256-room Quality Inn purchased with his savings, and grew it into a company encompassing seven hotels with more than 6,300 guest rooms and 730,000 square feet of meeting space

Rosen donated millions of dollars to philanthropic initiatives, including free preschool and college scholarship programs for children in the underserved Tangelo Park and Parramore communities, and major gifts to the University of Central Florida's Rosen College of Hospitality Management

Rosen created RosenCare, an employee insurance plan covering 90 percent of medication costs, and established the Rosen Medical Center to provide comprehensive medical care and wellness programs for employees and their families

A copy of the resolution is to be presented to the Rosen family as a tangible token of the Florida Senate's recognition
