Counties must establish, and municipalities may establish, a daily administration fee for proper storage of electric vehicles involved in accidents, capped at three times the standard towing fee rate.

"Proper storage" requires damaged electric vehicles to be separated from combustibles and structures by at least 50 feet on all sides, or surrounded by a barrier of earth, steel, concrete, or solid masonry.

The fee applies when the EV owner/operator is incapacitated, unavailable, leaves wrecker procurement to law enforcement, or does not consent to vehicle removal.

Motor vehicle insurers are not required to pay any storage costs beyond what is covered in their existing contracts with insured parties.
