Certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) registered under s. 464.0123 may practice autonomously without onsite medical direction from a physician or dentist and without an established protocol approved by medical staff

Autonomous CRNAs may independently determine anesthesia type, order preanesthetic medication, and perform procedures to render patients insensible to pain during surgical, obstetrical, therapeutic, or diagnostic procedures

Healthcare facilities retain the authority to require autonomous CRNAs to follow an established protocol approved by the medical staff or governing board

Autonomous advanced practice registered nurses who are CRNAs are explicitly authorized to perform all acts listed in s. 464.012(4)(b), including placing central and arterial lines, managing cardiac arrhythmias, and participating in postanesthesia recovery care
