Pharmacists working for licensed medication-assisted treatment service providers may deliver and administer FDA-approved medications for opiate addiction treatment by injection under an established protocol with a prescribing physician

Amends Florida Statutes sections 397.427 and 465.1893 to add pharmacists to the list of healthcare professionals authorized to administer medication-assisted treatment, joining physician assistants and nurses

Pharmacists must complete an 8-hour continuing education course on safe administration of behavioral health, antipsychotic, and opiate addiction treatment medications, including potential allergic reactions

Pharmacies administering these injections must practice at facilities accommodating privacy for nondeltoid injections and comply with medical waste disposal regulations
