Law enforcement officers actively engaged in official duties (calls for service, investigations, case-related activities) may decline to accept or process public records requests at that time

Officers determine themselves whether they are actively engaged in official duty; upon declining, they must verbally inform the requestor and direct them to the agency's records custodian or official public records request portal

Knowingly and willfully persisting in attempting to compel an officer to accept or process a public records request while the officer is actively engaged in official duty constitutes resisting an officer without violence under s. 843.02
