Updates the legal definition of "autism" and "autism spectrum disorder" in Florida Statutes to align with the most recent edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), replacing the previous detailed statutory description

Requires the State Board of Education to adopt rules for teacher credentials related to autism (changing from permissive "may" to mandatory "shall")

K-12 teachers whose classes have at least 50% of students with autism spectrum disorder must hold an Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement

Provides an exception to the endorsement requirement for teachers who hold an Endorsement in Severe or Profound Disabilities, have taught students with autism for at least 3 years, and received highly effective ratings for the preceding 3 years

Takes effect July 1, 2026
