Certified school counselors must be evaluated using the Florida School Counseling Standards adopted by the State Board of Education, rather than the Florida Educator Accomplished Practices used for other instructional personnel

School counselor applicants are exempt from certain educator certification requirements under s. 1012.56(2)(g) and (i), which relate to professional education competence and subject area knowledge

School districts retain authority to require school counselors to meet the exempted certification requirements as a condition of employment at their discretion
