Inmates convicted of nonviolent felonies must serve a minimum of 65% of their sentence, while those convicted of violent or other felonies must serve 85%

Department of Corrections may award 60-180 additional days of gain-time for completing vocational certificates, workforce preparedness programs, technical education, or the prison entrepreneurship program

Inmates may earn 30-90 days of gain-time for completing educational or rehabilitation programs including drug treatment, mental health treatment, life skills, reentry, or character-based programs

Inmates participating in vocational or workforce preparedness programs may earn up to 5 days per month of additional gain-time, capped at 15% of total sentence

Inmates demonstrating constructive use of time and commitment to rehabilitation may receive up to three additional awards of 60 days each; effective July 1, 2026
