Department of Management Services may establish state term contracts with multiple vendors for building code inspection services and debris removal services to assist local governments during Governor-declared natural disaster emergencies.

Out-of-state building inspectors and plans examiners may work in Florida for 1 year following a natural emergency declaration if they hold a state term contract, are qualified in a state with a mutual aid agreement, or have held a valid license in any state for at least 5 years.

Covered positions include building code inspectors, electrical inspectors, mechanical inspectors, plumbing inspectors, residential inspectors, coastal construction inspectors, and various plans examiners.

"Natural emergency" is defined as events including hurricanes, storms, floods, severe wave action, droughts, or earthquakes.
