Municipalities and counties may adopt ordinances regulating vessel speed and operation within 300 feet of blind corners at water body confluences, extendable up to 1,000 feet if necessary for safe navigation and visibility for approaching vessels.

Extended boating-restricted areas must be clearly marked with uniform waterway regulatory markers consistent with Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission rules.

Local governments retain existing authority to establish idle speed/no wake zones, slow speed/minimum wake zones, and vessel-exclusion zones under specified safety conditions.

All local boating ordinances require commission review and approval based on substantial competent evidence that restrictions are necessary to protect public safety, with applications acted upon within 90 days of completion.
