Records and personal identifying information of women diagnosed with or treated for uterine fibroids submitted to the Department of Health's uterine fibroid research database are made confidential and exempt from public records requirements under s. 119.07(1) and the State Constitution.

Exemption is necessary to comply with federal patient privacy laws including HIPAA and to enable the Department of Health to effectively conduct epidemiological research and tracking activities.

Public records exemption is subject to the Open Government Sunset Review Act and will automatically repeal on October 2, 2031, unless reenacted by the Legislature.

Effective date is July 1, 2026.
