Firearm manufacturers cannot be held liable in products liability lawsuits for the absence or presence of design features, safety mechanisms, or performance standards not required by federal law

Protected features include magazine disconnect mechanisms, loaded chamber indicators, authorized user recognition technology (smart gun technology), and external manual safeties

Liability protection does not apply when a claimant proves the firearm had an actual manufacturing or design defect, or failed to operate consistent with the manufacturer's express warranties

Creates Section 768.1258, Florida Statutes, applying to causes of action filed after the act becomes law

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law
