Conviction integrity units are defined as units within state attorney offices that review plausible claims of actual innocence from convicted individuals

The exemption protects information generated during active, ongoing, good faith investigations of actual innocence claims for a reasonable period until the investigation concludes

The exemption does not apply to applicant petitions, records from collateral court proceedings, or pre-existing criminal investigative information that was already public
