Florida House Resolution congratulating the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County on its 80th anniversary

The Juvenile Welfare Board was established in 1946 as the nation's first independent board dedicated to improving children's lives, created through legislation sponsored by Senator Henry Baynard and Representative S. Henry Harris in 1945

Pinellas County citizens ratified the Juvenile Welfare Board Act on November 5, 1946, establishing an independent special taxing district governed by an autonomous board

Last year, the Board served 83,622 children through investments in 98 programs with 51 agencies providing prevention and early intervention services

A copy of the resolution will be presented to the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County
