Trooper Daniel Cole used an electronic control device (taser) on Maudsley's back, causing her to fall and suffer traumatic brain injury that left her in a vegetative state until her death on September 15, 2013

The settlement acknowledged a jury could have awarded $1.95 million; $200,000 was previously paid under statutory liability limits, leaving $1.75 million owed

Attorney fees are capped at 25% of the awarded amount, and payment will be reduced by any outstanding Medicaid liens for Maudsley's medical care
