Authorizes Miami-Dade County to pay $500,000 to Lourdes Latour and Edward Latour as compensation for injuries sustained when Mrs. Latour was struck by a malfunctioning automatic gate arm while exiting the Gables by the Sea community on her bicycle on November 5, 2017

A jury found Miami-Dade County 100% liable on January 16, 2025, awarding Mrs. Latour $4.75 million and Mr. Latour $165,000 for loss of consortium

The parties reached a settlement of $800,000, with Miami-Dade County paying $300,000 under existing statutory limits and this claim bill authorizing the remaining $500,000

Attorney fees related to this claim are capped at 25% of the amount awarded under this act

The combined payments under this act and Section 768.28, Florida Statutes, constitute full and final compensation for all present and future claims related to this incident
