Requires background checks for ammunition sales and transfers by licensed firearm dealers, applying the same criminal history check procedures currently used for firearm purchases

Exempts concealed weapons license holders, certified law enforcement officers, and out-of-state purchases of rifle or shotgun ammunition from the background check requirement

Exempts ammunition transfers at shooting ranges, galleries, or designated target shooting areas, and transfers for hunting, trapping, or fishing when the transferor has no reason to believe the ammunition will be used illegally

Prohibits persons convicted of felonies, misdemeanor domestic violence crimes, or those adjudicated mentally defective from purchasing ammunition, consistent with existing firearm prohibitions

Creates third-degree felony penalties for knowingly acquiring ammunition intended for use by someone prohibited from possessing it, with the act to be cited as "Jaime's Law" and effective October 1, 2026
