State universities and Florida College System institutions must adopt written safety policies and procedures for campus facilities, classrooms, and institutional settings to prevent, report, and respond to acts of violence or credible threats against persons

Institutions must designate a person responsible for coordinating responses to violence and threats and implementing all safety measures

Policies must establish clear internal and external reporting protocols, including notification of campus security or local law enforcement when appropriate

Protective measures for affected persons may include work or class relocation, security escorts, restricted access for threatening individuals, and timely updates on incident status

Institutions must annually review and update policies to incorporate best practices in threat assessment and campus security, and post policies prominently on their websites with an effective date of July 1, 2026
