Requires public school students in grades 2 through 5 to receive instruction in cursive writing, including letter formation, proper spacing and alignment, and practice writing complete words and sentences

Students must demonstrate proficiency in cursive writing by the end of grade 5 through an evaluation of written work

Proficiency is defined as the ability to write uppercase and lowercase letters in cursive, write words and sentences legibly with proper spacing, and read and apply cursive writing to support literacy development including essays and assignments

Effective date is July 1, 2026
