Governmental entities that allow code inspectors to wear body cameras must establish policies and procedures for proper use, maintenance, and storage of the cameras and recorded data

Code inspectors must be permitted to use body cameras to record any encounter with the public while performing their duties

Governmental entities must train all personnel who wear, use, maintain, store, or release body camera footage in the established policies and procedures

Audio and video data from body cameras must be retained in accordance with Florida public records law (s. 119.021), and entities must conduct periodic reviews to ensure compliance with their body camera policies

Florida's wiretapping and electronic surveillance laws (Chapter 934) do not apply to body camera recordings made by code inspectors who elect to use them
