Repeals Section 790.33, Florida Statutes, which currently preempts all firearms and ammunition regulation to the state Legislature and prohibits local governments from enacting their own firearm ordinances

Allows local jurisdictions (cities, counties, municipalities) to create and enforce their own firearms and ammunition regulations independent of state law

Amends Section 790.251 to remove a cross-reference to the repealed preemption statute while maintaining existing protections for employees and customers to keep legal firearms locked in private vehicles in employer parking lots

Effective date of July 1, 2026
