Parents of students in self-contained special education classrooms may submit written requests to school principals for video camera installation and operation in those classrooms

District school boards must adopt policies within 60 days of receiving the first request, establishing criteria for approval or denial, submission windows, designated personnel, and appeal processes

Parents are limited to one camera request per student per school year, except upon material change in circumstances as defined by district policy

Approved video cameras must be operational within 30 days of written approval and remain operational for the remainder of the school year

Schools and districts are prohibited from concealing the identity of employees in video recordings, and any recordings made available to requesters must include accompanying audio
