Georgia House Resolution commending Dr. Rosemary Lévy Zumwalt for her dedicated service to education and congratulating her upon her retirement from Agnes Scott College, where she served since 2001 as vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college

Dr. Zumwalt holds bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees from the University of California and is a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow and Mellon Resident Research Fellow, specializing in anthropology, folklore, and ritual and symbolic behavior

Prior to Agnes Scott, she served 18 years on the faculty of Davidson College as Paul B. Freeland Professor of Anthropology and Chair of the Department of Anthropology and Sociology

During her tenure at Agnes Scott, she was instrumental in creating the Generating Excellence in Math and Science (GEMS) Program, initiating the first Consortium for Diversity faculty hire, and renovating Campbell Hall into a multi-disciplinary teaching space

Her most recent book, Franz Boas and W.E.B. DuBois at Atlanta University, received the John Frederick Lewis Award from the American Philosophical Society
