Georgia House Resolution 2261, sponsored by Representatives Kidd of the 141st and Powell of the 29th, recognizes and commends Mr. Ed Holcombe for outstanding public service in Georgia

Holcombe served as Chief of Staff to Governor Sonny Perdue and previously had a distinguished career at Georgia Power beginning in 1967, retiring as Vice President of Governmental and Regulatory Affairs

Holcombe held numerous local leadership roles in Rockdale County, including Chairman of the Hospital Authority, Chairman of the Development Authority, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the United Way, President of the Rotary Club, and trustee of the Georgia 4-H Foundation

The resolution humorously notes Holcombe's lobbying tactics, including transporting politicians on fishing trips in an oil-burning school bus and playing gin rummy five days a week with committee chairmen, never winning, and reporting losses on his expense account and lobbyist disclosure

The House recommends Holcombe end his governmental career fishing on Lake Sinclair and recognizes him as "one of the best schmoozers in the lobbying business in Georgia"
