GA SR1237

Georgia Senate Resolution 1237, introduced by Senator Jackson of the 2nd District, recognizes and commends Mr. Tom Oxnard of Savannah, Georgia, for his leadership and commitment to the welfare of Georgia citizens.

Mr. Oxnard graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and earned a bachelor's degree in social relations from Harvard College, then worked as a journalist at several publications, winning the Georgia Press Association award for Best Editorial in Georgia in 1968.

He transitioned to a career in the commodity and financial industry in 1969, serving as vice president at EF Hutton (1975), Paine Webber (1982), and Shearson Lehman Hutton (1990) before retiring in 2001.

Since retirement, he has served on the board of Savannah Country Day School and as chairman of the board of Horizons Savannah, which provides summer enrichment programs for promising low-income children.

A founder of the Skidaway Island Democrats, Mr. Oxnard was honored as a 2010 Yellow Dog Democrat at the Annual Buttimer Awards Dinner in Savannah, Georgia.
