GA SR1474

Georgia Senate Resolution 1474, introduced by Senator James of the 35th, recognizes and commends Sergeant Lee Gragg of the Palmetto Police Department, who was named an America's Most Wanted All-Star finalist.

On September 12, 2009, during a road safety check, Sergeant Gragg attempted to subdue an unlicensed driver who refused commands and sped off, throwing Gragg into the back of the convertible before crashing into a brick mailbox.

The crash killed the suspect on impact and ejected Sergeant Gragg 20 feet into the air, resulting in the loss of his left eye, 17 broken facial bones, a broken back, and a brain injury.

After four months of recovery, Sergeant Gragg returned to light duty with the Palmetto Police Department, continuing to serve as an inspiration to fellow officers and his community.

The Senate unanimously commends Sergeant Gragg's courage and selfless dedication and directs the Secretary of the Senate to transmit a copy of the resolution to him.
