Delays the implementation of career and college readiness initiatives under Georgia's Quality Basic Education Act (Title 20, Chapter 2)

A proposed floor amendment (which was defeated) would have added Code Section 20-2-149.1 authorizing the State Board of Education to exit any agreement, contract, memorandum of understanding, or consortium that cedes control of Georgia's core curriculum to another entity, including a federal agency or consortium

The defeated amendment specified permissible reasons for exiting such agreements, including: cost of developing or implementing core curriculum standards, inconsistency of proposed standards with community values, or conflicts with Georgia law

The defeated amendment also would have allowed withdrawal if an agreement imposed curriculum, assessment, or data tracking requirements on home school or private school students
