Georgia House Resolution 1679 commends Dr. Beverly A. Scott for more than three decades of public service in the transit industry and invites her to be recognized by the House of Representatives at a date and time designated by the Speaker.

Dr. Scott was appointed by the MARTA Board of Directors in 2007 as Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority.

Dr. Scott holds a bachelor's degree from Fisk University and a doctorate in political science with a specialization in public administration from Howard University, and began her career in public transit management in 1977 as a Carnegie-Houston Foundation Fellowship recipient.

Her career spans senior leadership roles at transit agencies in Sacramento, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., and Dallas, and she served as past chairperson of the American Public Transportation Association.

Dr. Scott was named one of the Top 100 Most Influential Georgians by Georgia Trend magazine in 2010 and was appointed to the National Infrastructure Advisory Council by President Barack Obama.
