Persons sentenced to felony probation in Georgia must surrender their driver's license, permit, or identification card to the Department of Driver Services within 20 days of sentencing (or 60 days after release from incarceration) to receive a replacement bearing a demarcation indicating they are serving a felony probation sentence.

Replacement demarcated licenses cost $25.00, and the demarcation must remain on the license for the duration of the probation period, including through renewals; removal upon completion of probation also requires a $25.00 fee.

Failure to surrender a license as required results in suspension until compliance, with reinstatement requiring a fee of $60.00 (or $50.00 if paid by mail) along with surrender of the license or a sworn lost-license affidavit.

First offenders sentenced under Article 3 of Chapter 8 of Title 42 are exempt from the demarcation requirement.

The Act applies to offenses occurring on or after January 1, 2013, with the design and placement of the probation demarcation to be determined by the Department of Driver Services.
