Georgia House Resolution 1553 recognizes and commends Dr. Eva Galambos, the first mayor of Sandy Springs, elected in 2005 when residents voted to incorporate the city

Under her leadership, Sandy Springs gained national and international recognition for its public-private model of city services, outsourcing most employees to the private sector

The city funded more than $100 million in improvement projects, including paving over 147 miles of roads, 42 intersection improvements, over 30 miles of sidewalk, and 874 storm-water repairs, plus over $18 million in recreation facilities and three new parks—all without a tax rate increase

Dr. Galambos holds a Ph.D. in economics from Georgia State University and served as president of the Committee for Sandy Springs from 1975 to 2005, along with founding or leading multiple civic organizations

The Clerk of the House of Representatives is directed to transmit a copy of the resolution to Dr. Galambos
