Graduated valedictorian from W.A. Fountain High School in 1965, earned a bachelor's degree from Spelman College in 1969, a master's from Atlanta University in 1972, and an education specialist degree from Clark Atlanta University in 2005

Served a 34-year career teaching first and third grade in the Clayton County Public School System at George M. Kilpatrick Elementary School, and previously worked as a flight attendant for Pan American World Airways

Helped establish the Clayton County Campaign for the United Negro College Fund over 25 years ago, served 20 years on the King Center's Salute to Greatness Awards Dinner committee, and held a role on the Executive Committee of the Clayton County NAACP Branch

Directs the Clerk of the House of Representatives to transmit a copy of the resolution to Carolyn LaVerne Davenport
