Married his high school sweetheart, Lee E. Johnson, in 1962; together they had four children and were married for 53 years

Held multiple civic and professional roles, including general manager of WEAS radio, president of the Garden City Progressive Community Club for six years, Garden City Council member, and Mayor Pro Tem

Served 12 years as a Georgia State Representative on the Appropriations, Economic Development and Tourism, Industry and Labor, Transportation, and Ways and Means committees; the Clerk of the House is directed to provide a copy of the resolution to his family
